Why REMNANT exists
Built from the piecesthat did not disappear.
Not because loss can be made clean. Because men need a way to work when it isn't.
“I walk back through my darkness to meet you on the road we now share — so you don’t have to face it alone.”Part I // Author's Note
REMNANT // ORIGIN
I built the thing I neededwhen I was bleeding.
I did not begin REMNANT because I wanted to create a grief program.
I began because when I looked back across my own history of loss, I could see how much of my life had been spent trying to find my way through terrain I had never been taught to navigate.
My father. My people. My faith. My family. My own death and return.
Years of anger, guilt, confusion, isolation, rebuilding, and an overlong healing process I did not yet know how to shorten.
The question that built the Path
What did I need here that I didn't have?
At every place where I could see that I had broken, stalled, numbed, lied to myself, raged, isolated, or simply had no idea what to do next, I asked the same question.
REMNANT grew from the answers.
From the Author's Note
The stained glass.
The original manuscript describes the work as coming from the shattering of a heart and soul — broken pieces scattered across decades of disjointed healing.
I kept returning to the image of stained glass: shards that looked like wreckage by themselves, assembled until light could pass through them.
Not because the brokenness became beautiful simply because it happened.
Because what remained could still be made useful.
I didn't need to erase the fracture.I needed to understand what to do with what remained.
The map
I didn't turn my pain into a product.I turned my way out into a map.
REMNANT does not pretend to be the only path through grief.
It is a path.
A charted journey through terrain that does not behave like a straight line.
The ambition behind it is not to promise a timetable for healing. It is to keep another man from spending years wandering ground that can be named, confronted, marked, and walked.
Not by skipping grief.By doing the work inside it.
Something I did not understand when I started building this
The Path worked both directions.
When I began building REMNANT, I thought I was walking back through my pain for the men who would eventually follow.
I understand now that something else was happening.
I was walking through it again for me.
Not repeating it. Not reopening every wound for the sake of suffering. Seeing it from the other side.
Looking at the younger man who lost his father and asking what he needed.
Looking at the husband.
The father.
The angry man.
The grieving man.
The man trying to numb what he could not understand.
The man who nearly gave up.
The man who died and came back.
At every point: What did he need here?
Creating REMNANT became part of my closure.
Not because the losses disappeared. Because I finally understood what to do with what remained.Watch // Origin

REMNANT // SENTINEL
I am the Sentinel.
If your circumstances warrant a SENTINEL engagement, you are not handed to a facilitator who learned REMNANT from a manual.
You work with me.
I built the Path. I wrote the questions. I know what each Part is trying to accomplish, what the pressure is for, and where the work is supposed to move next.
SENTINEL means I step closer to the application of that work with you: private guidance, accountability, direct challenge, individualized pacing, and — when appropriate — structured preparation or facilitation around difficult conversations.
Normal REMNANT contains the work.
SENTINEL changes how closely I walk inside it with you. It is not a superior version of the curriculum.
What we will not promise
No closure theater.
Will REMNANT make the grief go away?
No. REMNANT is built around the opposite assumption: loss can remain meaningful and painful without controlling every future experience of your life.
Is moving forward the same as moving on?
No. The language of the work repeatedly treats memory and love as things that can be carried forward rather than erased.
Is this therapy?
No. REMNANT is structured coaching and personal-development work rooted in Christian faith and lived experience. It does not replace licensed medical, psychiatric, psychological, or emergency care.
